A holiday in the mountains wouldn’t be the same without some tobogganing. These special family moments and fun times with friends are some of the simple pleasures that put a smile on our faces, year after year.

Do your children ask where they can go sledding as soon as the first snowflakes start to fall? If so, would you like to find out about the sledging areas in Méribel? No problem, we have everything you need!

In Méribel, sliding down snowy slopes is our forte, on skis or on a sled! Whether you are looking for a secure tobogganing area for young children or a several kilometre-long toboggan run through the forests, you’ll find it in Méribel.

TOBOGGANING IN THE FOREST: BLACK FOREST MISSION

Dare to try the new sledding adventure!
The Black Forest Mission!

The Black Forest Mission is a 3.4km-long snow-covered trail, with 470m of vertical drop and 28 bends, which is open to sledgers who are at least 1.40m tall. Choose your sled and your helmet, and become one of the adventurers trying save the tribes living in the Arbin forest!

  • Opening hours:

From 01 Dec to 28 April, from 9am to 4.30pm.

Access: to buy your pass, take the Tougnète gondola exit stairs, collect your sledge and helmet: the sales desk is in the lift departure station. The start of the run is at the top of the Tougnète gondola.

Prices – helmets and sleds included:

  • One run : 12€.
  • Four runs (price per run) : 9€

DORON SLEDDING AREA

Let your children have fun in this sledging area in complete safety. Set apart from skiers, this gentle slope is ideal for your little ones who want to take their turn on the sledge. Thanks to the free ‘magic carpet’ lift, they can get to the top of the slope without tiring themselves out!

The sled run is open from 9am to 8pm every day and the magic carpet lift on Monday evenings.

ALTIPORT SAFE SLEDGING AREA

This is a safe sledging area reserved for children. This gentle slope is perfectly suited to their level, where your children can discover the joys of sledging without any risk of getting hurt. Have fun with your toddler or baby in complete safety.

Children’s sledge run: open from 9am to 4.30pm.

SKI AND SLEDGING RESORT

Our sledging areas are designed exclusively for sledgers and are suitable for all ages. As a result, you will fully enjoy your time sledging on well-maintained and fenced-off areas with their own special access.

WHERE CAN I RENT A SLED IN MERIBEL?

Do you want to go sledding and need to rent a sledge with metal brakes, as well as gloves and a helmet? You can rent sledging equipment in several rental shops in Méribel-Centre, Méribel-Mottaret or Les Allues. You can rent or buy a range of sledging equipment, including sleds especially designed for babies! We suggest you book your equipment in advance.

 

DO YOU NEED A PASS TO GO SLEDDING?

Yes and no – it depends on which sledging area you choose.

  • Some of our toboggan runs are free. These include the sledging areas for little ones, such as the Doron sledging area and the safe sledging area at the Altiport.
  • The tobogganing areas for older children and adults require a toboggan pass which can cover one or more runs, such as the Black Forest Mission or the Himalaya By Night evenings.
