A feast in an igloo in the heart of the snow covered Altiport forest

Traditionally associated with the Inuit of the Canadian Far North, the igloo is an ephemeral construction that will immediately take you on a journey through time and space. This snow dome with its cosy and welcoming shape is the ideal shelter for a family evening at the end of the year..

During the Trapper’s Night, the programme is simple:

start with a short snowshoe hike in the heart of the Altiport forest led by an instructor;
then relax and enjoy a special Savoyard fondue in the igloo.

As a bonus, if you keep your eyes open as you weave between the snow-covered fir trees of the Altiport forest you may come across Father Christmas and his sleigh.

Experience the atmosphere of the Great North on a horse-drawn carriage or sleigh

Animals are often a popular focus for children. In Méribel, sled dogs and horses await you for a ride through the snowy landscape. The atmosphere of the Great North is guaranteed during a dog-sled ride, a sleigh ride or a carriage ride. Escaping everyday life has never been so easy and this type of experience has the power to make time fly by…

All you have to do is choose, with your children, a vehicle for new sliding sensations and enjoy the natural setting located at the gates of the village. Choose between:

mounted ski-joering, where a rider guides the horse and pulls a person on a sledge or on skis;
carriage rides for 4 people around the beautiful Lake Tueda;
dog sledding excursions where you will learn how to drive a dog team.

Take part in the torchlight descent during the night shows

When night falls and the village lights up, the magic of Christmas casts its spell on Méribel. During the Christmas holidays, many entertainments and events are on offer make each evening special. It is the perfect time and place to be filled with wonder with your family and to immerse yourself and your children in the carefree spirit of Christmas.

If your child has his 2nd star, he can even take part in the activities by participating in a torch-lit descent from Méribel-Mottaret or La Chaudanne. Registration is made at the ski schools.

Once the torchlight descent is over, head to the village streets for a family stroll during the night-time processions. The show is participative and you’ll be amazed at what you see.
